What is metamodernism in art?

Metamodernism in art subscribes to the idea of a ‘meta-narrative’ or 'story of a story' whilst using the tactics and tools of Postmodernism and new Technology. Metamodernist art aims to experiment and incite discussion about returning to a ‘meta-narrative’.

Description

An enchanting Metamodernist work. A group of people are walking down a busy street in the city. There are two people in the foreground, wearing various clothing and footwear, with a third person on the far right. The background is blurry, but a building and some vehicles can be seen. The dominant color of the image is black and white, with a grey backdrop. The sidewalk beneath them is dark and the sky is a deep blue. The air around them is filled with the sounds of the city and the smell of exhaust. People in the group are smiling and chatting, their conversations carrying on the wind. The energy of the city is palpable, and it seems like nothing can stop them from their journey.
