What is metamodernism in art?

Metamodernism in art subscribes to the idea of a ‘meta-narrative’ or 'story of a story' whilst using the tactics and tools of Postmodernism and new Technology. Metamodernist art aims to experiment and incite discussion about returning to a ‘meta-narrative’.

Description

In this Metamodernist work, we can see a woman lying on the ground. She is facing towards the camera, and her head is resting on her arm. She is wearing a brown shirt and has her dark hair tied back. Behind her is a grey background, and there is a yellow and blue kite in the sky. Her facial features are difficult to make out since she is in a close-up. She is surrounded by a peaceful atmosphere, and one can sense her calmness and stillness. This Metamodernist work is a great example of how we can capture a moment in time. It could be seen as a representation of how life can sometimes make us feel exhausted, but it can also be interpreted as a peaceful and calming moment.
