What is metamodernism in art?

Metamodernism in art subscribes to the idea of a ‘meta-narrative’ or 'story of a story' whilst using the tactics and tools of Postmodernism and new Technology. Metamodernist art aims to experiment and incite discussion about returning to a ‘meta-narrative’.

Description

This metamodernistic work depicts a cartoon of a man wearing a blue and white hat. He is standing in profile, wearing a distinctively shaped garment with a single large button on the front. His facial features and body shape are exaggerated which is typical of cartoon characters. The background of the image is black, and the man is in silhouette with no facial details visible. He is also standing in front of a silhouette of a kangaroo, which is a popular animal in cartoons. The overall work conveys a sense of fun and humor, and could be used to illustrate a variety of different stories.
