What is metamodernism in art?

Metamodernism in art subscribes to the idea of a ‘meta-narrative’ or 'story of a story' whilst using the tactics and tools of Postmodernism and new Technology. Metamodernist art aims to experiment and incite discussion about returning to a ‘meta-narrative’.

Description

A woman sits cross-legged on the floor, illuminated by a light shining through a green wall. She holds a drum tightly in her hands, her silhouette illuminated against a stage she stands in front of. Her expression is focused and intense as she plays the instrument with a deftness that speaks of her experience and skill. She is surrounded by water, making her performance all the more captivating and inspiring. The brass accents of the drum add a warmth to the atmosphere, making it a perfect scene. The woman's presence is undeniable, and her passion for music is clearly on display. A stunning example of metamodernism.
