What is metamodernism in art?

Metamodernism in art subscribes to the idea of a ‘meta-narrative’ or 'story of a story' whilst using the tactics and tools of Postmodernism and new Technology. Metamodernist art aims to experiment and incite discussion about returning to a ‘meta-narrative’.

Description

This metamodernist artwork shows a close-up of a yellow and orange toy car. The car has a round, orange body, with a yellow top. The car has four black wheels and a black frame with a curved bumper. The car has a rectangular white grille in the front and two headlights. The car is parked on a flat surface and has a bright, yellow backdrop. The background features a yellow sky and an orange horizon. The car is small in size, compared to a real car, and has a toy-like appearance. The car has a shiny, glossy finish with a few small scratches. The car is in a static, stationary position and looks like it is ready to be played with.
