What is metamodernism in art?

Metamodernism in art subscribes to the idea of a ‘meta-narrative’ or 'story of a story' whilst using the tactics and tools of Postmodernism and new Technology. Metamodernist art aims to experiment and incite discussion about returning to a ‘meta-narrative’.

Description

A group of cars is parked on a road, one of them in the foreground. The cars are all black and seem to be of different types. The car in the foreground is a race car of some sort, with a low slung body and wide wheels. In the background, the other cars are smaller and have more traditional body types. All the cars have a glossy finish and look untouched by the environment. The environment around the cars is mostly black, with a hint of blue around the edges. The sky is cloudless, and the environment is still and quiet. This is a metamodernist visual representation of a peaceful and serene outdoor landscape.
