What is metamodernism in art?

Metamodernism in art subscribes to the idea of a ‘meta-narrative’ or 'story of a story' whilst using the tactics and tools of Postmodernism and new Technology. Metamodernist art aims to experiment and incite discussion about returning to a ‘meta-narrative’.

Description

This metamodernist artwork depicts a painting of a river running through a lush, green forest. The river is meandering through the trees, and there is a wooden bridge crossing it in the middle of the artwork. The sky is a deep, vibrant purple, with white and grey clouds scattered throughout. There is a tree in the foreground with its leaves illuminated by the warm light of the sun, casting shadows on the river. The water is flowing steadily, and it appears to be reflecting the colors of the sky. To the left of the river, there is a close-up of a colorful surface, with swirls of purple and white. Further away, there is a painting of a rock, partially submerged in the river. The painting is full of life and beauty, and it conveys the essence of nature.
