What is metamodernism in art?

Metamodernism in art subscribes to the idea of a ‘meta-narrative’ or 'story of a story' whilst using the tactics and tools of Postmodernism and new Technology. Metamodernist art aims to experiment and incite discussion about returning to a ‘meta-narrative’.

Description

This metamodernist painting features a close-up of a bird, rendered in abstract shapes and colors. The primary colors used are black, brown, and a bright yellow-orange hue. The bird is depicted in a vivid blue background, which is contrasted by the lighter yellow-orange hue used to outline it and add texture. The bird is depicted in an abstract manner, with its body and wings rendered in curved shapes and patterns. The painting is seemingly done in a vector graphics style, with bold lines that create a sense of movement and depth. The artwork is a perfect example of abstract art, with the abstract shapes and colors working together to create an overall unique and captivating image. From this painting, we can observe the artist's skill in combining multiple elements and colors to create an abstract yet still recognizable image.
