What is metamodernism in art?

Metamodernism in art subscribes to the idea of a ‘meta-narrative’ or 'story of a story' whilst using the tactics and tools of Postmodernism and new Technology. Metamodernist art aims to experiment and incite discussion about returning to a ‘meta-narrative’.

Description

This artwork in the style of metamodernism shows a painting of a man dressed in a long and flowing robe. The man appears to be standing in a room, with a window on the left side of the painting. The man is wearing a vibrant yellow robe, which stands out from the black background. His hands are visible in the lower portion of the painting, held up in front of him. His head is slightly bowed, and his facial features are not visible. The painting was created with a variety of colors, including bright blues, reds, oranges, and yellows. The painting is detailed and intricately designed, with a variety of textures and patterns. A close-up of one of the man's hands reveals a delicate and intricate design. The painting is an example of a type of art that combines realism and abstraction. It is a unique and captivating piece, which could be used to add a little bit of whimsy to any space.
