What is metamodernism in art?

Metamodernism in art subscribes to the idea of a ‘meta-narrative’ or 'story of a story' whilst using the tactics and tools of Postmodernism and new Technology. Metamodernist art aims to experiment and incite discussion about returning to a ‘meta-narrative’.

Description

This Metamodernist artwork captures a close-up shot of a cityscape, which features a small window in the center and a yellow object to the right. The background is a bright orange color, with a few small streaks of Majorelle Blue visible in the upper left corner. The city has a thin black border outlining it and displays a blurred artwork of a blue and red striped sign. The object to the right of the screen is a bright yellow color, which provides a stark contrast to the orange background. Overall, the work conveys a sense of colorfulness and artistry.
