What is metamodernism in art?

Metamodernism in art subscribes to the idea of a ‘meta-narrative’ or 'story of a story' whilst using the tactics and tools of Postmodernism and new Technology. Metamodernist art aims to experiment and incite discussion about returning to a ‘meta-narrative’.

Description

The metamodernist artwork is a close-up of a building, and it is taken from a street-level perspective. The building is composed of a black facade with several windows. The windows are arranged in an orderly fashion and they are framed by a white border. The windows are positioned in a row, and a few of them are open, letting in the light of the sun. The building is surrounded by other buildings of similar heights and structures, creating a cityscape. The roof of the building is sloping, and the building is situated in an urban area. The sky in the background is a pale blue, with some white clouds scattered across the sky. The sun is shining brightly, giving the facade of the building a warm glow and making the windows sparkle. The scene is peaceful and tranquil, with the hustle and bustle of the city just beyond the frame of this metamodernism.
