What is metamodernism in art?

Metamodernism in art subscribes to the idea of a ‘meta-narrative’ or 'story of a story' whilst using the tactics and tools of Postmodernism and new Technology. Metamodernist art aims to experiment and incite discussion about returning to a ‘meta-narrative’.

Description

This metamodernist artworkdepicts a close-up of a machine, most likely a train. The train appears to be blue and white in color and has a sign of some kind on it, although the sign is blurry and difficult to make out. The machine is positioned in a outdoor setting, although no other objects or landmarks are visible in the image. The dominant color of the background and foreground is blue.  The machine appears to be in good condition and well maintained. The details of the machine are visible in the close up, from the various parts to the paint job. The sign on the machine is the only element that appears to be out of focus, making it difficult to identify. It could be an advertisement, a logo, or have some other purpose. Tags associated with this image include 'train' and 'screenshot'. The train in the artwork is likely the focus of the screenshot, with the sign in the background adding to the composition, although it is out of focus. The train is likely the main object in the work, with the sign being an additional element that adds to the overall composition.
