What is metamodernism in art?

Metamodernism in art subscribes to the idea of a ‘meta-narrative’ or 'story of a story' whilst using the tactics and tools of Postmodernism and new Technology. Metamodernist art aims to experiment and incite discussion about returning to a ‘meta-narrative’.

Description

This is an expressionism capturing an abstract painting that shimmers with hues of blue and orange. The dominant foreground color is a rich, deep blue, which is contrasted starkly against a clean, white background. The artwork is contemporary and reflects elements of modern art, with a focus on the interplay of color and form. The painting is characterized by a series of lines, both blue and orange, that appear to be composed of acrylic paint. The lines are reminiscent of reflections on water, suggesting that the artist may have drawn inspiration from nature and landscapes. Indeed, the intermingling of these colors creates an illusion of a fountain, further enhancing the aquatic theme. Although the painting is abstract, the presence of what seems to be a fountain adds an interesting depth to the piece. The combination of blue and orange lines, possibly representing water and light, creates a sense of movement and vitality. This artwork is not only a testament to the artist's skill with paint but also to their ability to evoke emotion and thought through the use of color and shape.
